From Couillet, near Charleroi, we received a call from the person in charge of a large medical practice. The modern building was constructed of a lot of glass, concrete walls and ceilings, and furnished soberly and austere. As a result, they were experiencing a lot of reverberation in various rooms: the waiting room, the reception area, the meeting room... Our specialist immediately made an appointment to visit and analyze the problem on site.
A huge reverberation of 2.4 seconds was measured at the entrance/waiting room, reception and walk-through area. Needless to say, this was very unpleasant for patients, receptionists and doctors. There was really no peace or privacy here. The client deliberately chose to significantly improve the acoustics in the rooms, rather than optimize them. We therefore placed there three cream-colored wall panels (COUSTpanels) against the walls and 2 light gray ceiling panels (COUSTceilings) with penetrations for lighting on the concrete ceilings. This still allowed us to reduce the reverberation by 1.4 seconds!
The same high reverberation time was measured in the hallway to the doctor's offices. At this location, the client chose another option: our wall-filling custom acoustic cladding (COUSTwall). We placed 11 m² of this acoustic wall covering right above the built-in cabinet, with a very nice print. This also brightened up the room at the same time.
