Restaurant Lunsjes

Restaurant Lunsjes

The problem

The oriental/European restaurant Lunsjes can be found in the heart of Antwerp. The name may create some confusion because in addition to lunch, you can also have a delicious dinner there. Lunsjes is actually the derived diminutive of the Chinese term Lùn Chī - which stands for “discussions about food".  In this top restaurant, customers can have pleasant, loose, funny but also serious chats.

The place is always busy, but a lot of people talking generates decibels that need to be absorbed to keep everyone comfortable. So COUST dropped by to do a reverb measurement and see how we could make the atmosphere at Lunsjes even better.

Our solution

Our solution

A minimum reverberation value of 0.7 seconds is actually a must to make a restaurant really cozy and zen. To achieve this, the entire wall in the front part of the restaurant was covered with a COUSTwall (wall panel) 9 m long in the same beautiful green color of the wall. The shelf with plants that hung there before was cleverly incorporated into the acoustic panel so that the original “look and feel” of Lunsjes was completely preserved.

Result

Result

The result? Brilliant! You can hardly see that the wall is acoustic because the COUSTwall fits in completely with the walls and ceiling. But almost invisible certainly doesn't mean less effective! So let the customers of Lunsjes continue to chat and debate: the acoustics and ambience are now top-notch.
