The offices of multinational Univeg in Sint-Katelijne-Waver are stylishly furnished: beautiful desks and lighting in a room with lots of natural light. However, when dozens of people were busy making phone calls here, very good acoustics would prove indispensable. So COUST still had to take care of the acoustics.
After a professional reverberation measurement, we advised the client with a detailed quotation. To bring the reverberation time to the acceptable level, +- 60 m² of COUST acoustic material would be needed per room, preferably in the form of ceiling panels (COUSTceilings). After all, these absorb the direct source sound of workers at a desk island, and also prevent the sound from spreading further in the room.
The pendant lights present had been painstakingly installed and were not to be altered under any circumstances. So we could not use our technology to run the (electrical) cables through the panels (although for us this was perfectly feasible). We worked out a plan that solved both the acoustic and aesthetic issues.
In the first area, which employs about 60 people, we mainly installed ceiling panels. In the even larger sales area, we installed a combination of ceiling panels and partitions (COUSTscreens). For this, the customer chose some beautiful prints in the context of the company. The screens were attached to the desk with brackets that we developed especially for Univeg. The result? Another happy customer!
